Sweet Tooth

December 10th, 2007

For about the past year my husband and I have banned sweets from the house. It’s not a diet, more of a lifestyle that we have adopted. I am a chocolate addict. It was just easier to cut it out completely than to have it around the house. Well everynight after dinner I get a really bad sweet tooth. Usually I am really good about it. Last night I just couldn’t handle it. I knew we didn’t have anything in the house…. so I went online searching. I threw what I had together (which was nothing) and came up with this berry pie. Literally I had one pie crust, 1 bag frozen mixed berries, 2 frozen bags blueberries and 1 bag frozen strawberries. I combined two recipes together and came up with this crumbled top crust. It actually turned out really good. I calculated that each slice was about 250 calories. No butter and only a 1/2 cup sugar for the whole thing. I am a huge calorie counter, it’s worked really good for me, I have lost 28lbs! So anyway this was a nice treat, I never get to do this. So husband and I sat down with some coffee (decaf of course, it was late) and enjoyed a sweet treat.

I have never tried a cumbled top crust like this, I think it turned out really well. With the berries it tasted like a pop tart. It was from one of Emrils recipes. I think it was 2 cups flour, 1/2 cup sald oil, 3 tablespoons milk and 3 tsp sugar. Yeah that sounds right.

Since we couldn’t wait, the pie was still warm so it didn’t hold it’s form very well. Thats ok it was delicious. I wished we would have had some vanilla ice cream, but it was wonderful without it.

Hmm, I think we liked it. Hahah. Can you tell we don’t get dessert very often? hahahah. It was nice to enjoy the a treat with my husband with the christmas trees lit up, snow outside, cozied up by the fire with warm pie and coffee. We really enjoyed it.

That looks good! Yay for your weight loss! I started losing last January and need to get back on the wagon. I lost about 25 lbs, but need to lose that much more.
